Applications are invited for a three-year funded postdoctoral research position within the Biological NMR group in the Department of Chemistry.
Although this position is to be formally located within Dr Matt Crump’s group at the University of Bristol, you will also be fully integrated with research scientists within UCB, the global biopharmaceutical company (www.ucb.com). UCB’s funding of this position is part of the company’s outward-looking structural biology strategy, and will offer the opportunity to work at UCB’s Research & Development facilities in Slough, Berkshire, as the project demands.
The last couple of years has seen the emergence of a host of computational techniques that use NMR chemical shifts to derive the structure of proteins without the need for NOE data. The current project will involve the application of this technology to enable the rapid structural elucidation of protein targets and the development of methods to facilitate unambiguous docking of low molecular weight ligands (fragments) into the protein target using minimal NMR data (ie chemical shift perturbations alone). We are therefore seeking a candidate with a strong computational and theoretical NMR background, preferably with experience in NMR driven structure determination of macromolecules.

A two-year postdoctoral research position with a possibility of extension and a few PhD positions are available at the Institute of Neuroscience and Medicine - Medical Imaging Physics, Forschungszentrum Jülich.
These positions will be coupled to an exciting new project related to a construction of 9.4T whole-body MR-PET scanner. This scanner, which is unique worldwide, will be capable of the simultaneous acquisition of MRI and PET data sets in humans at 9.4T. Additionally, the Institute houses state-of-the-art 1.5T, 3T, 4T whole-body MR scanners and a 3T MR-PET scanner. These facilities are complemented by a home-built 9.4T animal scanner also based on the Siemens software and hardware platform.
Currently, the following research areas are being actively pursued in the group:
· Diffusion Tensor Imaging.
· Development of new MRI sequences designed for brain imaging and neuroscientific applications targeting structural and functional MRI, e.g. ultra-fast MRI techniques, DTI, and contrast-enhanced, high-resolution imaging.
· Development of new in vivo methods for quantitative MRI including image processing of quantitative data.

They will contribute to the collaborative interdisciplinary projects involving physicists, neuroscientists, mathematicians, software designers, and others.

The NMR team at the Grenoble High Magnetic Field Laboratory (GHMFL) is looking for an experimental post-doctoral researcher for the development of NMR instrumentation for ultra high magnetic fields.
The GHMFL is Europe’s largest high magnetic field infrastructure. Amongst others, it operates a worldwide unique NMR user facility conducting ultra high field NMR research in 20 MW resistive magnets up to 34 T and at temperatures as low as 40 mK. The biomolecular NMR laboratory of IBS (Grenoble -France) is interested in identifying motivated candidate for a PhD Fellowship. Applications from foreign students of all nationalities will be accepted.
The position foresees investigation of biomedically relevant proteins involved in maturation of human oncogenic microRNAs. The studies will include biomolecular NMR investigations (structural and dynamic) and elucidation of protein/RNA interactions by NMR spectroscopy. alkali/earth alkali mixed effect (Ca/Na), zirconium and calcium
environnement in borosilicate glass. We aim to improve our understanding
and fundamental knowledge of the glass structure, and its alteration by
irradiation or lixiviation (water dissolution).
During this project, experiments will be carried out on labeled samples
(29Si, 17O ,43Ca and doubly 29Si/43Ca are avalaible , 29Si/17O are in
preparation), offering many opportunities for exciting applications ( XY
HETCOR, J-HMQC, REDOR, ... ) and methodological developments.
The candidate will be involved in our collaborative work on GIPAW /
Molecular Dynamics simulations
in order to bring more insight into the collected data.
This is a one-year post-doctoral position available as soon as possible.

Two Magnetic Resonance Scientist positions at PNNL
The Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory (EMSL), a DOE User
Facility administered by Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL),
has immediate positions available for two exceptional candidates in the
area of magnetic resonance spectroscopy (either NMR or EPR). One
position represents a senior hire while the other position is a mid- to
entry-level position. Both candidates must establish a preeminent
research operation that engages the user community and takes advantage
of the novel infrastructure present within the EMSL. More information

The senior hire must have an established national/international record
of accomplishment with a strong funding base. Further, this individual
must have a record of accomplishment in the development of novel
experimental methods to accomplish his or her experimental objectives.

environment. The successful candidate should provide names of three

We are writing to request your assistance in identifying qualified applicants at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor levels for a tenure track faculty position in the area of Macromolecular NMR Spectroscopy in the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. This is part of our efforts to expand the structural biology program we have built over the past decade, including groups in NMR Spectroscopy (A. Hinck), X-ray crystallography (P. J. Hart, R. Sousa, C. Kim), and membrane biophysics (N. Robinson and B. Nicholson).
Applicants are expected to have strong backgrounds in both theoretical and experimental aspects of modern NMR spectroscopy as applied to biological macromolecules. The successful applicant will be appointed as a full-time tenure-track faculty member and will have preferential access to state-of-the-art equipment available within, and operated by, the Department, including four-channel Bruker AV 500, 600, and 700 MHz NMR spectrometers, together with high sensitivity cryogenically cooled probes for the 600 and 700 MHz spectrometers (see http://nmr.uthscsa.edu/). The NMR Facility, along with a state-of-the-art X-ray crystallography facility (including a Rigaku MIcroMax 007HF generator fitted with Varimax optics and R-AXIS HTC detectors, as well as robotic crystallization and imaging stations), analytical ultracentrifugation (including developmental machines for fluorescent and multi-wavelength detection), dynamic light scattering, surface plasmon resonance, and mass spectrometry are all operated as University Core Facilities (http://research.uthscsa.edu/) within the Department (see http://biochem.uthscsa.edu). Additional shared facilities for microcalorimetry (DSC and ITC), stopped flow and high pressure spectroscopy and circular dichroism are also available within, and operated by, the Department.
In addition to the extensive access to shared facilities both within and beyond the department, the successful candidate will be provided a generous start-up package, and newly renovated lab and office space adjacent to the NMR Facility. Candidates will be expected to develop, or bring with them (in the case of hires at the more senior level) a vigorous, externally funded, research program at the cutting edge of structural biology, and contribute to teaching in the graduate, medical and/or dental curricula. New faculty will also be encouraged to be actively involved in future recruiting and the continued growth of the Department, which has added seven new primary faculty in the last four years.
