A permanent position for a research technician (scientific associate, non-PhD level) is available immediately at Novartis in Basel. The description is attached below. Please note that this position is different and in addition to the PhD-level position which was advertised 2 weeks ago. The current position involves a broad range of biophysical methods, including NMR, SPR and crystallization, in addition to protein purification and characterization. While expertise in any of these techniques will be an advantage, training on the job will be provided for the other techniques. This should be a great opportunity for anyone with a masters or bachelors degree (or equivalent) and a strong desire to learn a broad range of biophysical methods.

Job Description A permanent position is open in the Structural Biology Platform of the Center for Proteomic Chemistry, NIBR (NIBR/CPC/SBP).We are looking for a motivated person to work on the purification and characterisation of protein-ligand complexes in a structural biology laboratory. This will involve the application of multiple biophysical methods such as NMR, crystallography and SPR, among others. Experience with any of these techniques is considered a significant advantage, although training can be provided on the job.
Minimum requirements Bachelors or Masters degree or equivalent. Strong background in chemistry or biochemistry. Experience in protein handling, purification and characterisation. Background in protein chemistry with protein crystallography, NMR or biophysics experience would be an advantage. Ability to work in a team and interact with colleagues in a multicultural environment. Ability to work on different projects in parallel. Desire to learn new methods and apply them to answer scientific questions.
The candidate should be prepared to implement novel approaches. Open communication, an independent and precise way of working, and excellent team work skills are important. Good knowledge of spoken and written English is required, and communication skills in German and/or French are desirable.
