Scientist (Postdoc) with NMR and HPLC experience

Department of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology at Universität des Saarlandes, Saarbrücken:

Scientist (Postdoc) with NMR and HPLC experience

Description of the position: Using the NMR infrastructure available at Saarland University (Bruker 700 MHz NMR equipped with Cryoprobe and LC-coupling), your new job includes establishing LC-NMR methods aimed at the structural elucidation of natural products. You are about to join a multidisciplinary team with colleagues trained in chemistry, pharmacy, biology or biotechnology, contributing your skills to numerous projects. It is the primary objective of your research to conduct the de novo structure elucidation of newly discovered, complex bacterial secondary metabolites which are frequently available in low yields only. Your expert knowledge enables you to actively pursue the development and optimisation of analytical methods for that purpose.

Requirements: Degree in chemistry or pharmacy with completed PhD, ideally with an analytical focus (NMR, HPLC, MS).

Additional specifications: Besides a profound knowledge of NMR spectroscopy, liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry, the successful applicant has prior experience with the separation of complex metabolite mixtures. Furthermore, he/she has experience with studies of biosynthetic pathways and basic knowledge about feeding experiments with producers of natural products. Ideally, successful research activity since PhD completion is well-documented by publications. Fluency in scientific English, both spoken and written is essential, German language skills are appreciated but not required.

Please visit the University website for further details and refer to position "W246" when sending your application to: Prof. Dr. Rolf Müller, Pharmazeutische Biotechnologie, Campus C2 3, Postfach 15 11 50, 66041 Saarbrücken.
