A post-doctoral position is available at the CEA (Commissariat l'Energie
Atomique) to work in the group "Laboratoire de Structure et Dynamique
par Resonance Magnetique". This position is intended to an experienced
NMR spectroscopist http://www.cea.fr/english_portal.
and will start March-June 2009.
The general goal of this project is to apply and develop high field high
resolution NMR techniques for the structural characterization of
silicate and borosilicate glasses. Composition of the studied glass are
chosen as simplified model of the french nuclear waste glass (from 3 to
6 oxides) in order to address important fondamental issues such
alkali/earth alkali mixed effect (Ca/Na), zirconium and calcium
environnement in borosilicate glass. We aim to improve our understanding
and fundamental knowledge of the glass structure, and its alteration by
irradiation or lixiviation (water dissolution).
During this project, experiments will be carried out on labeled samples
(29Si, 17O ,43Ca and doubly 29Si/43Ca are avalaible , 29Si/17O are in
preparation), offering many opportunities for exciting applications ( XY
HETCOR, J-HMQC, REDOR, ... ) and methodological developments.
The candidate will be involved in our collaborative work on GIPAW /
Molecular Dynamics simulations
in order to bring more insight into the collected data.
This is a one-year post-doctoral position available as soon as possible.
Possibility to extend to two years.
Our lab is equipped with three NMR spectrometers, 500 NB (with micro
imaging, gas and hyperpolarized xenon NMR facilities), 300 WB and 500 WB
Bruker Avance II spectrometers.
Postdoctoral salary will be around 2000/2500 Euro per month.
