PhD Biomolecular NMR Grenoble (France)

PhD Position in Biomolecular NMR at the Institute of Structural Biology in Grenoble (France)
The biomolecular NMR laboratory of IBS (Grenoble -France) is interested in identifying motivated candidate for a PhD Fellowship. Applications from foreign students of all nationalities will be accepted.
The position foresees investigation of biomedically relevant proteins involved in maturation of human oncogenic microRNAs. The studies will include biomolecular NMR investigations (structural and dynamic) and elucidation of protein/RNA interactions by NMR spectroscopy. Analysis of protein/RNA interactions will serve to design drugs able to inhibit biogenesis of oncogenes.
The laboratory hosts three NMR spectrometers equipped with cryogenic probes (600 MHz and 800 MHz) and with a solid state MAS equipment (600 MHz). It has access to the nearby 900 MHz and the first 1 GHz NMR spectrometer (2009) of the European high field NMR centre in Lyon. Applicants will also have access to a fully equipped wetlab for isotopically labeled NMR sample preparation. More information can be found on the laboratory web site : http://www.ibs.fr/content/ibs_eng/presentation/lab/lrmn/
Grenoble is a pleasant city situated in the heart of the French alps, and has one of Europe’s most vibrant structural biology communities centred around the European Synchroton Radiation Facility (ESRF), the Laue Langevin Institute (ILL), the Structural Biology Institute (IBS) and the EMBL Grenoble Out-Station. http://www.psb-grenoble.eu/
Applicants must have completed a master degree (or equivalent) in biochemistry, biophysics, chemistry or other relevant discipline before july 2009. The salary of the grant holder for the three years of the thesis contract is nationally and internationally competitive (as an indicator, the first-year annual gross salary will be 23,800 euros). Applications from foreign students of all nationalities will be accepted. Informal enquiries and applications (including CV and letter of motivation) should be directed before February 20th to :
