Job Description
An opening is available for a post-doctoral fellow in the Biomedical NMR Spectroscopy group within the Biomolecular Mass Spectrometry Unit at Leiden University Medical Center (The Netherlands). As successful candidate you will be responsible for research in the field of NMR-based metabonomics with strong emphasis on lipidomics. You will contribute to several projects in collaboration with internal and external partners in the fields of endocrinology, cardio vascular disease, metabolic syndrome, diabetes and ageing. In addition you will take an active role in advancing and developing new methodologies for lipid profiling in biological fluids.

Organization
At the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC), we are continually seeking to improve the quality of healthcare. The LUMC aims for excellence in patient care, research, teaching, training and continuing education. The Biomedical NMR Spectroscopy group at LUMC conducts research in the field of molecular biomarker discovery, NMR and MS-based metabonomics as well as method development for biomedical NMR spectroscopy with strong emphasis on automation, hyphenation and analysis of complex mixtures. Main focus of the group is on investigation of metabolic pathways and biological functions in health and disease for application in clinical research and diagnostics, as well as in disease prevention, health and nutritional science. The lab is equipped with a Bruker state-of-the-art 600 MHz NMR Metabolic Profiler including a microTOF-Q mass spectrometer.

Job requirements
We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a PhD degree in biochemistry / chemistry or equivalent. You have a sound knowledge of NMR spectroscopy; experience in multivariate data analysis and / or Matlab programming is a plus. We are seeking a team player with good communication skills and a vital interest in NMR method development. Good knowledge of English is required.
